The history and tradition tells us that the Capuchin priest, the Seville Isidore of Seville (1662-1750), in 1703, when falling asleep while praying, he was in the dream of a virgin figure sitting on a stone shepherd's hat, covered with a cloak with his left hand holding a child with a rod in his right, surrounded by sheep. This revelation is communicated to the famous painter Alonso de Tovar Sevilla to capture on canvas the title of the Virgin Mary was called "Divina Pastora de Almas" considering Jesus as the Good Shepherd and the Virgin Mary in the same protective status of the faithful. The picture was taken in procession on September 8, 1703 from the parish of San Gil in Seville to the City Mall.
